a gradient approach

Adaptive yoga aims to bring the benefit of yoga to all people. Using a gradient approach includes beginning with a version of a posture that is accessible to everyone, with the option of expanding on the pose if it suits you. It's possible to have a full practice even if you're challenged by illness, injury, pain, or limited mobility.

benefits of yoga

Some of the physical benefits of yoga include building strength and flexibility, strengthening the core, protecting the spine, increasing circulation of blood and lymph boosting immunity and helping you to sleep better. In addition, a yoga practice offers much more than physical strength and flexibility. I work with my students and clients in exploring the deeper benefits of yoga.

meditation and pranayama

Including meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques) in your practice can also lead to deeper self-awareness, healing, and a sense of wholeness. The word asana, most commonly thought of as the physical postures of yoga, originally referred to the seat on which the yoga practitioner sits for meditation and the inner work initiated through the discipline of yoga.
